Special Events 1

Perkasie Borough Council enacted a "Special Events" ordinance at their meeting on Monday October 7th. Council unanimously voted to amend and reinstate Chapter 115, "Parades" to describe new guidelines governing Special Events and Block Parties in the Borough.

A SPECIAL EVENT is defined as:

  • a parade, assembly (gathering of more than 50 people), athletic event, street fair, art & craft show, carnival, soap box derby, rally, or other special event or activity that occurs in a public place or on a Borough street, sidewalk, alley or other street right-of-way and that obstructs, delays or interferes with the normal flow of pedestrian or vehicular traffic or does not comply with traffic laws and controls.
  • indoor or outdoor concerts, dissplays, fairs, athletic and other events occurring on private property, and designed to attract large crowds such that the event will interfere with normal traffic flow.

Organizations wishing to hold a Special Event in Perkasie Borough should review and complete the new Special Event application form which can be found on the Community Events page of the Perkasie Borough website. The Borough has also published a summary guide which explains the review process for Special Event applications, and an attachment to the form which details current year fees

BLOCK PARTIES: With immediate effect, Perkasie Borough requires the submission of a Block Party Permit application form from residents and Borough businesses wishing to close a Borough street, or hosting a party on private property where the impact may spill over onto the Borough's streets and sidewalks. The new Block Party application form is available on the Community Events page of the Perkasie Borough website.  There is no fee for a Block Party application in 2024, although it is likely that an application fee, which will cover administrative expenses, will go into effect in January 2025.

The full text of the new Chapter 15 of the Perkasie Borough ordinance is available at Perkasie Borough Hall and on our website, pending the official update to the Boroughs Code of Ordinances.
