ATTENTION PARK USERS: Updates Coming to The Spine Skatepark

Starting this week The Spine Skatepark, located in Lenape Park, will be closed periodically for the removal of older ramps and installation of new ramps.

The Skate Park was installed in 2002 and has been used enthusiastically by the community over the past twenty-three years.

  • Early in 2023 the Borough started taking steps to address vandalism and investigating options for future renovation.
  • Fall of 2023 Perkasie Borough started a Skate Park Subcommittee that met monthly with representatives of the Borough and Park and Recreation Board to address the need to replace the mini half pipe, a recommended phased approach to ramp placements, and other minor repairs and/or changes.
  • December 2023 Perkasie Borough Council approved the use of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to purchase a new single coping double mini half pipe as recommended by the Skate Park Subcommittee.
  • March 2024 Perkasie Borough Council approved the use of Park and Rec Fees in Lieu for a full mill and pave reconstruction of the asphalt pad.
  • November 2024 Perkasie Borough Council approved the use of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to continue to replace the older ramps in the park.
  • December 2024 Perkasie Borough Council approved the 2025 Capital Budget which included additional funds toward the ramp replacement.

Removal of the current pyramid and bank ramp closest to the parking lot will start on October 6th and the park will be closed during that time.  Removal will take approximately one week.  Once the old ramps are safely removed the skate park will open again to the public.

The park will close again for the installation of the new pyramid, bank ramps, and new grind box and rail which is scheduled to start on November 6th.

Estimated project timeline is October 6th through November 13th and subject to change.
