Right to Know

How to Make a Request for Records

All Right to Know Law (RTKL) requests must be addressed to the Borough’s Right to Know Officer (Open Records) as follows:

Donna Benner
Borough of Perkasie
620 W. Chestnut St, P.O. Box 96, Perkasie, PA 18944
Telephone: 215-257-5065

Requests can be submitted by mail to the address above, by fax to 215-257-7673; in person or by email to dbenner@perkasieborough.org

You may click this link to download our printable request form, or you may provide a legibly written request for information.

Your request should identify or describe the records sought with sufficient specificity to enable the Right to Know Officer to ascertain which records are being requested, and you should include the name and address of the person to who the response should be addressed. You are not required to state a reason for making a request for records.

You may make a verbal request for records, but you may not pursue the relief and remedies provied under the RTKL unless your request is in writing.

The RTKL allows five (5) business days for a response to be provided to the requestor. The regular business hours of the Right to Know office are 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday through Friday (except Holidays and official office closings). Any RTKL request received by the Right to Know Officer after the close of regular business hours shall be deemed to have been received on the following business day.

When you file a request under the RTKL, you are seeking public records. We cannot provide legal advice, opinions or guidance.

The RTKL allows for the charge of reasonable fees including, but not limited to, copying and postage.

Please be advised that when RTKL requests are submitted to this agency, the request itself becomes a public record subject to disclosure under the RTKL.

How to File an Appeal

If access to records is denied, in whole or in part, you may file an appeal with the Appeals Officer within fifteen (15) business days of the mailing date of the denial, or within 15 business days of a deemed denial. Please file any appeal at the following address:

Office of Open Records
333 Market Street, 16th Floor,
Harrisburg, PA 17126-0333
Website:www.openrecords.pa.gov
Email:openrecords@pa.gov

The appeal shall state the grounds upon which the requestor asserts that the record is a public record and shall address any grounds stated by the Right to Know Officer for denying the request.
