Thank you to everyone who joined us in Perkasie for our Earth Day event. Perkasie’s next Earth Day event is scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday April 22nd, 2023. Exhibitors / vendors with a tie in to the event theme are invited to contact Jessica Tantorno, our Events Assistant, at email@example.com to register your interest in participating.
Perkasie’s Earth Day event took place on Saturday April 23rd, 2022. Live music, earth-friendly crafts and lots & lots of interactive education.
We’re focusing on water in the Borough, and how we can all help support a clean and healthy watershed. We’ll be joined by an educator from the Peace Valley Nature Center, and have expert Master Gardeners & Watershed Stewards on hand from the Penn State Extension Service. Gilmore & Associates and the Bucks County Conservation District will bring information about the Borough’s watershed. Meet organizations specializing in eco-friendly lawn, garden & plant care, composting, landscaping, rain gardening, creative upcycling, reusable products & packaging and more.
“Perkasie’s park system runs along the East Branch of the Perkiomen Creek” notes Aaron Clark, Councilman and Chair of the Borough’s Parks & Recreation Committee, “and it’s a real jewel in our crown. Working together to keep it clean and healthy is critical to the park’s rich ecosystem, and it’s important for the wider Perkiomen watershed also.”
We’ll also share information about changes coming to the Borough’s Recycling Center and the impact on residents.
This year’s activities will have a focus on waste reduction – creating and generating less trash and recycling – and on waste diversion, which means sharing different options and resources for recycling certain items. Generating less trash and less recycling is good for the environment, and good for your wallet. KONA Compost is joining us to share information about home composting and their own curbside composting services.
Park and Trail Clean Up: groups interested in participating in this year’s park and trail clean up should contact our Parks and Recreation Director, Lauren Moll at firstname.lastname@example.org.
