The Perkasie Borough Police Department recently responded to two incidents of graffiti written in chalk on the Lenape Park bike path. Both writings contained an anti–Sematic phrase that would have been hurtful to anyone of Jewish heritage. The police and our public works crew responded and removed the writings as soon as they were reported and located.
Incidents of this nature can impact the entire community and make our residents and visitors feel unsettled, afraid and unsafe. As a community we must unite and stand together in addressing anti-Semitism and hate in all forms. While the handwriting and grammar appeared to be childlike in nature, we do not want to blame a particular age group for this incident. We would still ask that you speak with your children about hate and the impact these incidents can have on our friends and neighbors.
The Anti Defamation League has a website with a wealth of information on it. Below are some links you may find useful.
