August 23rd Update:
The Borough Council and Planning Commission hosted the kick-off meeting for the
Comprehensive Plan on Wednesday, August 8, 2012. Staff members of the Bucks
County Planning Commission (BCPC), who serve as the consultants for the project,
led the discussion. At that meeting, those in attendance were asked to
list the 1) strengths and opportunities that they see in the Borough, 2) the
weaknesses and challenges that are present, and 3) their personal vision for the
Borough in the next 20 years (2032).
The second meeting of the Comprehensive Plan Committee was a
workshop and was held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the
Borough Hall. At this second meeting, the BCPC staff we again lead the
discussion. They will first review the results of the kick-off meeting and begin
to develop an agenda for the Community Meeting which will be held in October.
The objective at the September 12th
workshop was to highlight the
most important topics that were mentioned or recommended at the kick-off meeting
and summarize them so that participants at the Community Meeting in October can
be polled or questioned further about those topics.
They will also be discussing potential points of interest for
the Reconnaissance tour of the committee which will be held later in September.
This tour will be to travel throughout the borough to familiarize our
consultants and committee participants with important sites that will be
highlighted and discussed in the Plan.
We ask that all members of the Comprehensive Plan Committee
attend this upcoming meeting. The “official” committee is composed of the
planning commission, the planning and zoning committee of the borough council,
and designated members of the park and recreation board, designated members of
Perkasie Olde Towne and the Pennridge Chamber of Commerce. Other residents and
business owners are also most welcome to attend.
Plan Update Process
At a public meeting in July 2012, the Bucks County Planning
Commission (BCPC) was awarded the contract by the Borough Council for the
preparation of this new Comprehensive Development Plan. The last plan was
adopted in 1993, so our plan update is long overdue and many things have changed
in the Borough in the last 19 years which will affect the new plan. This plan is
funded in large part by a grant from the Delaware Valley Regional Planning
Commission (DVRPC), under its’ Transportation and Community Development
Initiative Program (TCDI).
