BLASTING TODAY (APRIL 21)

Rock Work, Inc. will be blasting at the Hidden Meadows development site today from
12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

The Borough has been informed that Rock Work, Inc. will be blasting at the construction site for the Hidden Meadows development today.

The blasting will occur between Noon and 4:00 p.m.

STEVEN ROSE APPOINTED TO BOROUGH COUNCIL

At the public meeting on April 17, Borough Council appointed Steven Rose to fill the unexpired term of Florence Frei representing the 2nd Ward.

Mr.Rose currently resides on Park Ridge Drive and has lived in the Borough since 1981.  He is a retired manager with the U S Postal Service.  Mr. Rose has served on the Pennridge Wastewater Treatment Authority and the Perkasie Planning Commission and is active in the Lions Club.

BUCKS COUNTY ANNOUNCES HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTIONS

The Bucks County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program provides the opportunity for residents to get rid of unwanted hazardous chemicals, such as oil-based paints, pesticides, herbicides, caustic cleaners, pool chemicals, mercury, and automotive and rechargeable batteries, by offering a safe and easy disposal solution.

Residents can drive to any of the collection sites listed, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, rain or shine, and their household hazardous waste will be removed from their vehicles and sorted for safe disposal. 

No electronics (TVs, computers, or other electronic devices) will be collected this year, due to the effects of a Pennsylvania law, the Covered Devices Recycling Act.

SPRING LEAF COLLECTION BEGINS APRIL 17

Perkasie Borough will begin curbside spring leaf collection starting on Monday April 17, 2017.  Borough crews will make one pass through the Borough following the established routes.  There will be no call backs for leaves placed out after April 17.

Residents are reminded that they must have their leaves curbside by 7:00 AM on Monday April 17.  Do not block storm drains with leaf piles. Please ensure that the leaf piles are free of any stones or other debris that may cause injury to employees or damage to the machinery. Grass clippings and sticks will not be picked up by Borough crews and will be left curbside for residents to dispose of correctly. 

Residents are also reminded that they may drop off yard waste on the first Saturday of every month at the Borough Recycling Center located at 311 S. 9th St.  Drop off begins at 7:30 AM and ends promptly at 3:30 PM.  No late arrivals please. Leaves and other yard waste being brought in must either be in cans or paper bags.  No material will be accepted in plastic bags.  This is a free service provided by the Borough for Borough residents only, no contractors are allowed.  Proof of Borough residency may be required and must be presented if asked for by the attendant.  Please follow the signs and the attendants’ directions at the recycling center for proper disposal site information.

CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING SCHEDULED

MEETING NOTICE FOR CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION  

The Perkasie Borough Civil Service Commission will meet on April 11, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the Perkasie Police Station, 311 South Ninth Street, Perkasie, PA 18944 to begin the hiring process for an entry level police officer.

Council Vacancy in Second Ward

Perkasie Borough Council is seeking residents of the second ward interested in being considered for appointment to the Perkasie Borough Council. The term is available through December 31, 2017. To be eligible for appointment, an applicant must be a registered voter residing in the second ward. Applications will be received up until April 17, 2017. Appointment will be made at the Perkasie Borough Council meeting April 17, 2017 which begins at 7:00 PM.

Appointment to the Borough Council is a unique opportunity for individuals to serve their community and be involved with the critical issues of Borough operations including subdivisions, budgeting and community and economic development. Interested persons may contact any Council member, the Mayor or the Borough Office at 620 West Chestnut Street, Perkasie.
