Perkasie Regional Authority Water System Interruption of Service

The Perkasie Regional Authority (PRA) is scheduled to perform maintenance on the water system in conjunction with the  water lining project along Fairview Avenue, Chestnut St., Virginia Ave., etc.  The PRA will be doing some preliminary maintenance on the water system to prepare for the lining.  They will be exercising some old valves, and in some cases replacing non-working valves which could cause some customers to temporarily lose water service.starting today through Friday, May 6, 2016.  (No weekends).

During this time period, you may or may not experience temporary interruption of service between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.  In the event your property does have an interruption of service, the service will be restored that same day by 3:00 p.m..  PRA suggests you prepare for this interruption by filling several containers with water for drinking and other needs in case  your property has a temporary interruption of service.

Call the PRA at 215 257-3654 with any questions.

Spring Curbside Leaf Collection to begin Monday, April 18th

Perkasie Borough will begin curbside spring leaf collection starting on Monday April 18, 2016.  Borough crews will make one pass through the Borough following the established routes.  There will be no call backs for leaves placed out after April 18.

Residents are reminded that they must have their leaves curbside by 7:00 AM on Monday April 18.  Leaf piles should be placed so they do not block storm drains. Grass clippings and sticks will not be picked up by Borough crews and will be left curbside for residents to dispose of correctly.

Residents are also reminded that they may drop off yard waste on the first Saturday of every month at the Borough Recycling Center located at 311 S. 9th St.  Drop off begins at 7:30 AM and ends promptly at 3:30 PM.  No late arrivals please. Leaves and other yard waste being brought in must either be in cans or paper bags.  No material will be accepted in plastic bags.  This is a free service provided by the Borough for Borough residents only, no contractors are allowed.  Proof of Borough residency may be required and must be presented if asked for by the attendant.  Please follow the signs and the attendants’ directions at the recycling center for proper disposal site information.

That prescription drug sitting unused in your bathroom could pose a public safety and public health risk. Unused or expired prescriptions disposed of improperly may get into the water supply or be a target of those seeking to feed drug abuse habits.  According to the federal Drug Enforcement Agency, studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet.
